Valse Grazioso is a charming waltz in G major that aims to encourage beautiful tonal playing from young musicians. The piece consists of a canonic main theme, passages containing string crossings, pizzicato, and a contrasting section in the relative key of E minor. Night Capers is based on a jaunty tune in E minor. This tune is contrasted with heavy, energetic passages where players need to ‘dig’ into the string, and a more expansive middle section requiring a rich tone.
