A respected pianist, violinist, and composer, the career of Sweden’s Amanda Maier (1853-1894) was tragically cut short from tuberculosis. Her musical activities brought her into contact with the likes of Brahms, Grieg, and Reinecke, and her own style exudes the Romantic spirit of her time. Her Sonata for Violin and Piano in b minor (1878) is a brilliant and substantial work which is finally gaining the recognition it deserves.
