La Scappatella is Italian for The Escapade. The music was inspired by the composers adventures through the Italian countryside with the opening depicting galloping horses through the hills.
It is a very energetic piece requiring good bow control and tone throughout the expansive melodies. The slower middle section in C Major features the cellos with the melody which is then repeated in the upper strings. This piece is fun to play and is easily achievable by an intermediate string orchestra.
